Architecture of Your WordPress Theme
When I design your custom WordPress theme, I try to include as many widget positions as possible. As stated in the Terminology section of our training intro, a widget is a placeholder within your website’s theme. The reason I add as many widget positions as I can is to maximize the number of areas I can display 3rd-party widgets on your website and, also, accommodate any future expansion of your site.
The diagram, above, shows the typical widget area placement I install in nearly all of the custom WordPress themes I design. Of course, your website may have the sidebar on the right, or two sidebars, or no sidebars at all.
