I've shopped around on the internet to see what the competition is offering and what they are charging. I was stunned by the number of web design firms that are charging premium fees for very little content — and those are just the designers that are advertising their fees! Nearly all of them are charging hundreds of dollars for three to four pages of content. Those fees don't take into consideration the simplicity or complexity of a site and, in many cases, they limit the amount of content you can place on your pages. I find this limiting and unfair — especially to those who may have reasonably simple sites.
I work from a different business model. I feel that web designing and development is a service and, like any other service, my customers should be charged for two basic things: time and materials.
